Visit The SiteThrough spending time tinkering with his father, Davide Groppi’s interest in design and inventing began at a young age. He credits his father for teaching him how to construct solid pieces from spare parts and inspiring his appreciation for design which he later felt his lamp creations best captured. Groppi first sold his products in 1988, which he constructed from his first laboratory in Piacenza, Italy. Six years later, his company exponentially grew after meeting with Maddalena De Padova, a renowned entrepreneur and founder of the furniture company De Padova. The partnership led to 40 prototypes of the lamp, Baloo, featured at the trade show “Salone del Mobile” in Milano. The feature led to countless other collaborations with other world-class distributors and entrepreneurs. In recent years, the brand has found a particular niche in the hospitality industry, with world-class chefs as past clients, including Albert Adrià, Massimo Bottura, Massimiliano Alajmo, Moreno Cedroni, Carlo Cracco, Gennaro Esposito, Giancarlo Perbellini, Ciccio Sultanoand others. The recipient of many awards, including the Edida Award, in 2011, for the Sampei lamp; the Design Plus Award, in 2014, for the Neuro lamp; two awards at the 23rd edition of the ADI Compasso d’Oro Awards for the Nulla lamp, and the Sampei lamp; the ADI Compasso d’Oro Mention of Honour upon our rechargeable lamp TeTeTeT in 2016, Davide Groppi maintains status as one of the premier-most design brands in Europe and the world. It also continues to hold membership in the Italian Design Brands s.p.a. group (since 2018) and the Altagamma Foundation, a leading accelerator of Italian products.
The Infinito Endless wall lap is a conceptual piece that provides continuous dispersed light. Instead of a sole light source, the Infinito Endless consists of a high, thin metal bar that splits the room, allowing indirect light to fill the space. The fixture can be installed connecting wall to wall or standing upright, extending floor to ceiling, and comes in 6m or 12m versions allowing it to adapt to any space. The work of concept artist Lucio Fontana inspired the design of the piece. This piece is perfect for any space to provide well-dispersed indirect light while not distracting from other elements in the room. We invite you to come and witness it in person!
The Sampei lamp, designed by Davide Groppi and Enzo Calabrese in 2011, is an elevated floor lamp said to be born from the idea of putting the lamp on the floor and the table. Its tall, angular, and sleek structure ensures the glow of soft light on the area below. As the recipient of the 23rd ADI Compasso d’Oro Award, it is an innovative take on a floor lamp designed for spaces with high ceilings. It will offer a minimal yet elevated experience with both indoor and outdoor versions. Upon celebrating Sampei’s 10th anniversary, a limited edition construction is also now available, made with gold finishes. Come and experience this piece in person soon!
The Chaindelier, like the name, is a unique construction merging elements of chainlike and chandelier. Davide Groppi designed this piece with simplicity and elegance in mind, inspired by the artistry of a pearl necklace. As the golden chain of Chaindelier hangs from the ceiling, it projects light downward from a fixture secured at its bottom-most point. Chaindelier can be customizable to cater to the consumer and space, with the ability to add length to the single chainlike or add rows of chainlinks to create a tiered effect. The customizable nature of this piece would make it an exceptional addition to any elegant space. We recommend admiring this piece in person as opposed to just online. It will not disappoint, come and see us!
Imu is an outdoor lamp designed by Omar Carraglia in 2013.
