Visit The SiteIn 1981, Foscarini formally opened as a lighting brand on the island of Murano in Venice, Italy. Two years later, in 1983, the company opened to new markets and distribution channels outside of Murano which led to several collaborations, one of which with Rodolfo Dordoni, the designer of LUMIERE, Foscarini’s first major design success that outsells its other products to date. For the rest of the 1990s the company expanded from its blown-glass only designs to include materials such as polyethylene. In 1996, the company experienced a major accomplishment by receiving the UNI EN ISO 9001 certification, becoming the first in its sector to qualify for the title. By receiving the certification, the company gained recognition for its entire design and manufacturing process. In 2000, Foscarini created a new material, a blend of fiberglass and carbon fiber, named MITE and TITE, which received the Compasso d’Oro award for “decisive technological innovation.” In celebrating 20 years since its first collection, the company then opened its own headquarters in Marcon. Since then, the company has received multiple other awards, certifications, and generated popular collections through collaborating with several world-class designers. It has grown to become a world-renowned design firm in the light fixture space.
